The hardship of the children coupled with the snowfall on Tuesday night, dipping the temperature sharply.
Even around nine months after the disaster, the schools are yet to get buildings, forcing them to hold classes in temporary huts. Laprak is one of the hardest-hit places by the devastating quake that killed around 9000 people and injured hundreds of others across the country.
Moreover, the school teachers said that the children are suffering from cold-related diseases including common cold as the temporary huts cannot protect them properly from cold.
Besides, the children lack necessary textbooks and note books that they had lost to the quake, adding to the problem, said Dhan Bahadur Gurung, a teacher at the MSS.
Likewise, a teacher at the HHSS said that they take classes on the ground whenever the day is sunny.
Currently, the MSS having the total 200 children is holding classes in temporary huts at Guptipakha, the school authorities said.
Likewise, the HHSS having a total of 500 children is running classes in huts constructed at a cost of Rs 1.8 million provided by Non-Resident Nepali Association.
Out of the total 496 school buildings destroyed completely by the quake in the district, 38 were merged with other schools after they could not construct even temporary huts to run classes. RSS
