In the history of I’m a Celebrity, Ferne McCann has had to take on the worst eating challenge. The TOWIE star was presented with 8 dishes in the Bush tucker Bonanza. Four of them would only ever be served in the jungle. And the alternatives were mouthwatering dishes the celebrities have been craving for the last three weeks. Not many people would willingly trap a large water spider in a glass with the intention of eating it alive, while viewers have long conceded that witchetty grubs and lamb brains can be considered food.

Ant and Dec told her that if she ate the Bush tucker dish she would win a star. But she would forfeit it if she chose the tasty alternative. Three stars were for each meal and the fourth gave her 50 Dingo Dimes. She was given the choice of her favorite meal – a roast chicken dinner – or the LIVE water spider. Ferne struggled with the idea of eating it and began screaming as the spider reared up inside the glass. One of the host advice her that she could eat the spider if she swirled the glass round it would get into a smaller ball. Ferne tried to get the spider into a ball, agreeing to continue saying, ‘“I’ve come this far I’m going to give it a go.’

She knocked back the spider and crunched down on it until it had been chewed up and swallowed with it. Ant McPartlin said, ‘You are a hero, how did you do that?’ as he couldn’t believe Ferne had managed to do it. Ferne replied, ‘It smelled of cockroach, tasted dirty, the body was mushy and gunky and the legs were spiky and crunchy.’
