Lal Babu Pandit, a leader of Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist), assumed the post of the Minister of General Administration on 25 February 2014 under Sushil Koirala-led government. In 2014 he garnered attention for creating a list of 1,100 senior government officials who hold permanent residency in foreign countries and announced to take action against the people on the list.



The Minister for General Administration Lal Babu Pandit , determined to take action against civil servants obtaining green card, permanent residency and citizenship of foreign countries, said that no civil servant or political leader can be multi-national or have multiple identities.

I will never let bureaucrats and leaders have identities from two or more countries, he said to The Post. My campaign is against adopting any kind of permission to live overseas while engaging in bureaucratic jobs within Nepal, the minister added.
