Nepal’s suspended football team skipper Sagar Thapa said that he and his teammates arrested on match-fixing charges were innocent.Nepal Police on Wednesday arrested National football skipper Sagar Thapa along with four other players in connection to alleged match fixing in national and international games.According to the Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD), those detained today are captain Sagar Thapa, vice-captain Sandip Rai, former national defender Bikash Singh Chhetri, goalkeeper Ritesh Thapa and former national player and former coach of Three Star Club Anjan KC. KC is also the former coach of Three Star Club. He had deserted the club in the mid of the ongoing national league.Police said at least one of the suspects has allegedly made investment in a casino in Sikkim of neighbouring India. Police are looking into the allegations and are also trying to ascertain which laws would be applicable against their alleged offenses
